College of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram was set up in 1937. Earlier it was known as University of Travancore which at some point became the College of Kerala. The university was developed by a promulgation of the Maharaja of Travancore, Sri Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma which was also the initial Chancellor of the University. The College had three universities located in three different parts of the State viz. Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and also Kozhikode.
In 1968, the College Centre at Kozhikode became a complete -fledged College covering the colleges and departments situated in Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode and also Kannur Districts of Kerala. Currently, the College has sixteen faculties as well as 41 departments of teaching and study. There are 157 affiliated universities. Of these, 46 are helped Arts and also Science universities as well as 14 are unaided.
